My Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Since spring is now upon us (yay!), it also means that it’s time for me round up my spring capsule wardrobe. It’s been a full three months since I started this little capsule experiment, and so far the results have been interesting. I definitely enjoyed having less options, since it meant that my closet stayed tidy and I couldn’t have any of those “try a million things in my closet only to end up wearing the first thing” type of crisis. That said, I did have few weak moments with the no shopping rule (how am I supposed to resist the perfect striped tee?). Here are some of the things I learned from my first capsule:

  • In three months you can get really sick of just wearing sweaters
  • Not shopping for three months can be surprisingly difficult
  • I still mostly wear the same three shirts most of the time

So for my spring wardrobe I definitely wanted to have more variation and a more even distribution of long and short sleeves and casual and fancier options (and I don’t want to even look at a sweater for the next three months). Also, I still have ways to go in trying to actually wear everything that’s in my wardrobe, instead of wearing that aforementioned perfect striped tee everyday. But, here’s what’s in my spring capsule wardrobe:

Two of my favourite fashion trends this spring are definitely stripes and polo necks (I took my time warming to that one), so I added both of those into my spring capsule wardrobe. Compared to my winter capsule, my spring wardrobe also has a bit more colour in it, mostly hints of blush & beige. The only thing still left on my shopping list are black booties, since I didn’t manage to buy them last season.

I’ve been tempted for a while to start a capsule wardrobe although I’m not sure I could go a whole 3 months without buying anything! Love the choices you’ve picked for this season though and how lovely and monochrome everything is! x

    Always, Alice

Thanks so much Alice! I’m all about the monochrome. I thought about it for a while too before trying it out, but I’d definitely recommend giving it a go! (Although I’ll admit that the not shopping part is hard). xx

Nude is such a great colour cause it goes with everything! I really should wear my nude skirt more too. xx

I’ve been dabbling in a capsule wardrobe and while I thought it would be incredibly difficult, I felt freer. In reality day to day I wear the same pieces. Even though I spend more in one go, I end up saving by not browsing clothing and feeling the need to want more It’s hard, but I find it fun and challenging too.

I totally agree that trying the capsule wardrobe makes you feel somehow freer. And it’s a really fun and interesting experiment! x

I love how you’ve collected your spring capsule wardrobe, what a great idea to cut down on clothes, and still have the ability to create so many outfits!
And I’m with you on the perfect striped tee, I only recently found the perfect striped tee and no way was I letting it go past me!

    Em xx

Thanks Em! I’m really loving the whole capsule wardrobe thing. And there’s nothing better than the perfect striped tee! xx

Lovely post! I don’t think I could do the whole capsule wardrobe thing… I’m too much of a shopping addict ahaha 🙂 x

Thank you Serena! Yeah, the whole no shopping thing is definitely the hardest part about it 😀 xx

Ihana blogi sinulla, löysin sen vasta hiljattain 🙂 Hienon näköinen vaatekaappi, itsekin käytän paljon neutraaleja värejä, ja tänä keväänä olen yhdistänyt niihin vaaleanpunaista ja -sinistä. Mitä mieltä itse olet vaaleansinisestä tai esi. keltaisesta väristä?

    1. Jenni 03 April, 2016 at 13:01

Kiitos Elisabeth 🙂 Vaaleansininen on kyllä tosi kiva väri, ja sitä pitäisi ehkä hankkia vaatekaappiin enemmänkin. Keltaista multa löytyy oikeastaan vaan kesämekoista. xx

Lovely post – I would love to try a capsule wardrobe but I’m such an options girl and would never be able to whittle my wardrobe down! You’ve got a great selection for Spring here <3

Thanks Harriet. It was tough at first but then having less options can actually become quite freeing! xx
