The New Thing | L’Oréal Cushion Foundation

One of the biggest beauty trends this spring is definitely cushion foundations, and all the drugstore brands have started to come out with their own more affordable options. Despite being originally a bit sceptic about the whole cushion thing (I mean, how would it work?), I’ve always loved L’Oreal foundations and decided to give the L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion foundation a chance. And against all odds, I ended up loving it.

The Cushion

Firstly, let’s talk packaging. The L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation comes in a rather bulky little compact with two layers. On the first layer you’ll find a decent sized mirror and the little tap tap applicator (yes that is what they’re calling it). And under it there’s the actual cushion that distributes the foundation. I’m not crazy about the purple colour, and applying foundation with the tapper is a a bit slower than using
a brush. But the cushion does make sure that you’ll always end up with just the perfect amount of product and it’s impossible to end up with streaky foundation. Though you might have to dip into the cushion a few times to cover your whole face.

The foundation itself is the freshest and glowiest thing I’ve ever seen. It has a light coverage that’s buildable to medium and the most beautiful natural finish that never looks cakey or feels heavy. The shade range is not massive, but for me both the shades Vanilla & Vanilla Rose blend in just perfectly. I’ve actually fallen so head over heels for this one that over the past few weeks I’ve found myself reaching for it more often than my trusty bareMinerals Complexion Rescue.

So if you’re looking for a fresh new spring foundation that packs some serious punch in the glow department, and is also easy to top up on the go, look no further than L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion.

I’m very intrigued by cushion foundations since Lisa Eldridge talked about them two years ago or so after a trip to Asia and then developed one for Lancome so I’m really glad that they’re coming through the drugstore and can’t wait to try one. This one sounds great!

Me too, the Lancome one was a bit out of my budget so this is a great drugstore option! x

What an interesting product. I rarely try this type of foundation but I do appreciate L’Oreal’s affordability. :]
