Hello Spring! Last week marked the official start of spring, which can only mean one thing on Shakespeare & Sparkle: spring beauty edit time! If you’re a long time reader then you’ll know that these seasonal beauty edits are some of my favourite posts to make. And of all the seasonal edits, the spring beauty edit is always my favourite. There’s just something about bringing back the bright peaches and pinks after a winter of dark and moody tones, non? This spring I’m all about the glossy skin, peachy cheeks and matte pink lips.
THE SPRING BEAUTY EDIT
My favourite beauty trend this spring is definitely glossy skin. (It’s great for us oily girls since we can finally let our natural skin shine, pun intended). Healthy dewy skin obviously starts with skincare, and I’ve been loving the NUXE Bio Beauté Detox Fluid. It’s a slightly apricot tinted cream with orange water, that adds some serious radiance to my skin. And since spring is the season of street dust and all that lovely stuff floating around in the air, this little cream also protects your skin from pollution.
Another step that I’ve added to my routine for glossy skin is liquid highlight. Powders are still my favourite way to highlight my skin, but this spring I’ve been loving the added dewiness of a liquid. My absolute favourite is the Lumene Nordic Light Instant Illuminator in Rosy Dawn. It gives your skin the most beautiful rosy glow, and I’ve been using this little bottle for everything. Mixed in with my foundation, on top of the cheek bones… even on the lids for that glossy eyeshadow look.
Another favourite is the new Lancome cushion highlighter, that gives a more golden glow when tapped on to the skin. And it’s basically a dream come true for me. (Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the packaging for Lancome’s Absolutely Rose spring collection is?).
After a winter filled with nudes and berries, I was itching to bust out my glowy coral blushes. Peachy blushes were all I used to wear a couple years back, and for this spring beauty edit I’m bringing them back. Two of my favourites are the dreamy coral Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat. And the more peach toned Milani Baked blush in Luminoso. And since spring is all about glowy skin, both of them also have a healthy dose of gold highlight mixed in.
ALL ABOUT THE LIPS
This spring there actually isn’t just one trend that I’m loving for the lips, but rather three. I’m still really into my liquid lipsticks, and they don’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. My current liquid lipstick love is without a doubt the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in Amoureux. It’s a lovely pinky nude that dries down to a matte, but feels like you’ve got nothing on your lips. If I’m on the mood for something peachier and more moisturizing, I’ll reach for the Lancome Juicy Shaker in Freedom of a Peach.
My favourite new spring lip launch comes in the form of the Lancome Parisian Lips Le Stylo. (I mean, with a name like Parisian Lips and that rose gold packaging, you knew I was going to fall for this one). It’s a dual ended lip stylo with a matte pigment on the other end and a sheer cream on the other. It’s also the only thing I’ve seen so far that actually makes me want to wear the ombre lip trend, since the shades blend together so beautifully. I have the light peachy pink shade Rendez-vous à Paris.
BRINGING BACK THE BRIGHTS
It’s been quite a while since you’ve last seen any bright polishes on this blog, since I’ve been all about the nudes for the past year. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll still be opting for my pale pinks and sandy beiges most days, but sometimes it’s fun to brighten it up a bit. In addition to blush, I’m really loving bright peaches and corals on the nails too. My two current favourites are Essie’s new coral mango Excuse me, sur and that gorgeous Dior pink called Tra-La-La…
