Beauty Icons | My Makeup Muses

I’ve prattled on about beauty on this blog for a few years now, but I’ve never actually talked about my beauty icons. I’ve done a few posts on my favourite blog loves and a post on beauty bloggers whose recommendations I trust. But I’ve never talked about the people who inspire my own makeup or approach to beauty. Beauty icons are different for everyone, but here are some of my makeup muses.

While some of Jenny’s sartorial choices are a bit too vintage and frilly for my taste, her French inspired beauty looks are always something that I adore. She’s known for her signature cat eye, and her makeup is always feminine, elegant and put together. I also love her vintage inspired hair looks, from the subtle Brigitte Bardot bouffant to tying ribbon bows in her hair.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if I had to mention one person as my beauty inspiration it would be Alix. I’ve pretty much never seen her wear a makeup look I wouldn’t happily apply to my own face straightaway. She’s a fellow pale girl with a love for nude lip, and she’s also the reason behind my luxury skincare addiction.

When it comes to classic beauty icons, my blonde hair and love for red lipstick might make you imagine I’m a Marilyn girl. But it’s always been Audrey who’s had my heart. From the doe eyed looks with big separated lashes to the coral lipstick she wore on Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Audrey has always been my beauty inspiration.

I really couldn’t write a post about beauty icons without mentioning Lisa Eldridge, could I? She truly is a magician when it comes to makeup. Not only is she a knowledgeable professional, but she also somehow manages to look younger as the years go by. I love her classic elegant makeup looks, and her subtle way of incorporating current trends into her routines. She’s always current, but yet never over the top.

For the longest time, Estée was my main source of beauty inspiration. When she loved bright lipsticks I ran out to buy all the shades, and later when her tastes matured to be more nude & minimal, so did mine. Right now her makeup looks are mostly really minimal, all about the fresh freckled face. I also envy her short blonde locks, that are always cut, colored & styled to easy perfection.

Who are your beauty icons?

It is so great to see that you have a balance of some familiar faces and some new people for me to go check out!
I want to go look at Margo and Me!
