I wasn’t always a fan of matte lipsticks. Since I’m all about the comfort, and the freezing Scandinavian climate means that my lips are zapped of moisture most of the time. Adding a drying matte lipstick to that can easily make my lips feel about as comfortable as sandpaper. But luckily for me (and other dry lipped ladies) there are now plenty of lightweight, comfortable matte lippies loaded with moisturizing ingredients out there.
THE COMFORTABLE MATTE LIP EDIT
Matte Revolution is the only comfortable matte lipstick I’ve managed to find that doesn’t come in a liquid form. Maybe it’s because liquid formulas just tend to be more lightweight, but I find that traditional matte lipsticks can often be drying and draggy. Not this one though. It feels creamy and comfy on the lips, and the formula is packed with lipstick tree and orchid extracts to protect and hydrate the lips. I also like that the finish is not flat, but somehow manages to look both matte and luminous at the same time.

These lipsticks are what started my obsession with the matte liquid lip. They’re soft and cushiony, and have a velvety matte finish that feels comfortable on the lips. I’m not too crazy about the scent, but they’re easy and affordable. Plus, they come in plenty of shades to choose from, whether you love brights or nudes.

Chanel Rouge Allure Ink
This one is without a doubt my favourite matte lipstick of all time. And if it wasn’t so ruddy expensive I would probably own all the shades. It’s soft and velvety, glides on like a gloss and dries to be so lightweight and comfortable that it’s like I’m wearing nothing on my lips. It’s also packed with antioxidants and jojoba oil to hydrate and protect the lips. Not to mention that the packaging is as pretty as a peach.
Favourite Shade | 140 Amoureux
These little shakers are the newest addition to my comfortable matte lip collection, and it was definitely love at first sight. I already loved the original Juicy Shakers, so I got excited as soon as I heard that they’d be releasing a matte version. Like the originals, these also have an oil-infused formula that you need to shake before applying. They feel incredibly light on the lips and have Vitamin E for added comfort. They’re also highly pigmented and literally will not budge from your lips. (Prepare with a heavy duty makeup remover). The only downside is that some of the darker shades are a bit tricky to apply with the cushion applicator.
