Summer Makeup Favourites

Summer Makeup Favourites | Shakespeare & Sparkle

It’s the last week of August, and while a part of me can’t believe that summer is over, I’m also pretty excited for autumn to arrive. But before we get into berry lips and orange eyeshadows, I thought I’d take a look back at some of my favourite summery beauty bits. From a glowy base to bright lips, here are my summer makeup favourites.

BASE

Now this first one isn’t technically a makeup item, but it’s something I’ve included in my makeup routine. While I’m rather diligent with applying sunscreen on my body, I’m still super lazy about applying it on my face. I don’t know why, but for some reason I just find it impossible to remember. So this summer I made a real effort to always apply sunscreen before base, and the Vichy Idéal Soleil Face Cream has been my go-to.

After finding out that my beloved Dior BB Cream had been discontinued, I was on the lookout for a new light base. Enter the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat All-In-One Glow. It has just a tad more coverage than the Dior BB, but it packs all the necessary glow and still feels fresh and light on the skin. Plus, the tube has a pump and you just can’t beat that.

I know many people opt to skip powder during the summer to give their face that naturally dewy look, but I just can’t do that without looking like a sweaty mess. The Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish is undoubtedly the finest-milled powder I’ve ever tried, so it keeps my makeup in place while still looking natural. The only downside is that it runs out really fast.

COLOUR

I’ve loved just about everything I’ve tried from Glossier and the Glossier Cloud Paint cream blush has been no exception. While I usually find cream products a bit fussy, there’s just something that I love about painting this on my cheeks. It’s so soft and creamy, applies like a dream and pretty much never cakes. I have the shade Dusk, a gorgeous nude-y pink that I could basically wear every day.

While usually I’m all about the peaches for summer, this year I really fell for coral. I had never tried any makeup by Palladio before, but immediately fell in love with the Velvet Matte Cream Lip Colors (I own three shades already!). They’re super creamy and easy to apply, and won’t dry your lips into a crisp. Plus, Cashmere is pretty much the ultimate summer shade; a bright poppy coral that immediately brightens up any makeup look.

It was completely new to me too! But the lipsticks are lovely, and all their products are packed with plant ingredients and vitamins. The shades are gorgeous too! xx
